West Mead #1 crews trained this evening on water supply and water movement. The crews were given the scenario to achieve the highest flow possible with our water supply engine (28-11).
While discussing the scenario, the crews also reviewed friction loss (how much pressure we lose pushing water through hose) and engine pressures.
28-11’s crew set up a draft from French Creek with the engine and supplied 705 gallons per minute to 28-13 while at the same time delivering 814 gallons per minute to 28-12.
Crews then experimented with adding the portable pumps carried on 28-11 to the equation. Each pump is rated at 500 gallons per minute under ideal conditions. With both pumps running along with 28-11 drafting the crew achieved a water supply that generated in excess of 2,100 gallons per minute.
