At 6:58 pm, West Mead 1 was dispatched for a vehicle fire on McHenry Street, in the West Mead Industrial Park. A West Mead 1 firefighter arrived on scene and reported a street sweeper fully involved with a nearby tractor trailer semi also partially involved. Smoke from the fire was visible as far away as Interstate 79 and the other side of Meadville. Crews from 28-12 arrived on scene and forward-laid 200 feet of 4 inch LDH. One hundred fifty feet of 1 3/4-inch hose was deployed for fire suppression. Crews arriving from 28-13 deployed 150 feet of 1 3/4-inch hose from the engine’s front bumper tray. 28-11’s crew took precautions by deploying equipment to reduce contaminated water runoff from the fire from entering a nearby storm drain. Crews successfully extinguished fires on both vehicles. The sweeper was ruled a complete loss while the semi (with no trailer attached) suffered exterior damage to the right side of the vehicle. All crews were in service by 8:37 pm.
