On a blustery day in the region, West Mead #1 was tapped at 5:59 AM for a tree down on Hunter Road between Thurston and Townline. Squad 28-14 and Engine 28-12 responded from Alden Street with chain saws and other hand tools. Assistant Chief Craig Lauer reported a large tree blocking both lanes of travel and requested manpower to assist from West Mead #2. 28-14 and 29-4 provided scene lighting while crews worked to cut up and remove the large branches from the roadway. Hunter Road was cleared and re-opened to traffic after 80 minutes of work.

At 7:12 PM West Mead #1 was called for a tree down on Barton Road just west of the intersection with Alden Street. 28 personnel provided traffic control and cleared the roadway within 25 minutes.
