At 10:33 PM West Mead #1 was dispatched to stand by at Cochranton VFD while they fought a brush fire along Sunol Road. Before engines were en route, Department 28 was summoned directly to the scene. 28-12 and 28-11 provided manpower and equipment for the incident, with firefighters moving on foot through the woods with hand tools and portable water tanks. One firefighter from a mutual aid department was transported to the hospital for a knee injury during the fire. All 28 units returned to service by 12:50 AM Wednesday.
Other departments on scene included Cochranton, Vernon Township, Sandy Lake, Sheakleyville, and Hempfield Township.
