At 5:53 AM West Mead #1 was dispatched as part of a second alarm to assist Cochranton with a structure fire at Patterson Auto Wrecking along Old US 322. Engines 28-12, 28-13, and 28-11 responded, with Squad 28-14 bringing additional manpower to the scene. Department 28 personnel assisted with setting up portable water tanks, then were assigned to help with fire suppression and overhaul. The three engines participated in a multi-department tanker shuttle, hauling water initially from a hydrant along Old US 322 and then a draft established by Utica VFD. The fire was contained to a storage building behind the office, with a firewall limiting extension into the southern half of the structure. No injuries were reported.
All West Mead #1 units returned to service by 9:34 AM.
Other departments on scene included Greenwood, Vernon Central, Meadville Central, West Mead #2, Cooperstown, Utica, and Rocky Grove. Saegertown Volunteer Fire Department was on standby at Meadville Central during the incident, and Blooming Valley/East Mead were dispatched to standby at Dept 28.
