On February 11 West Mead #1 met for training with SCBA (self-contained breathing apparatus) to gain confidence and develop skills needed for low-profile maneuvers and disentanglement. Members suited up with PPE (personal protective equipment) to navigate a course over, under, around, and through various obstacles. During the exercise, their vision was blocked to simulate low visibility in smoke-filled conditions. Non-SCBA members assisted through the various evolutions. Afterward, several members practiced search and rescue techniques, extracting Rescue Randy from a second-floor room.

Additional training planned for February includes winter water supplies, pumping water, driver training, and fire behavior.
