On November 24 West Mead #1 hosted an SCBA readiness drill with mutual aid departments West Mead #2, East Mead, and Blooming Valley. West Mead #2 Assistant Chief Jim Pratt reviewed SCBA inspection, donning, and doffing, along with mayday and self-rescue procedures. Blooming Valley Chief Joe Smock ran teams of two through a timed course that involved hauling a section of 2 1/2″ hose, carrying five-gallon pails of water, dragging a mannequin, and advancing a hoseline for fire attack. West Mead #1 Captain Steve Harvey guided members through a maze course following a hoseline over, through, and around obstacles. East Mead Chief Eric Coston reviewed threaded and Storz hose couplings.

West Mead #1 thanks our mutual aid departments for their participation in the refresher drill.

This evening marks the last weekly drill of the year, with holiday schedules and typically higher call volumes in December. We will resume our weekly training schedule in January 2016.
