This week for drill West Mead #1 brought all three engines to the Wilson Chutes boat launch to practice pumping and setting up water supply. Engine 28-13’s crew arrived at a scenario of a working fire, pulled an 1 3/4″ handline, and began flowing water. Engine 28-11 arrived to set up water supply. Two 500-gpm portable pumps drew water from French Creek to supply 28-11, which in turn fed 28-13. The drill provided training in engine pumping, portable pumps, handline advancement, and radio communications.
