On January 13 starting at 1:51 PM, West Mead #1 provided assistance to Vernon Township Dept. 27 to help a few of the many residents in areas affected by the flood waters of French Creek. Engine 28-11 responded with 5 personnel to Shippen Street and began investigating three homes with flooded basements. Because 28-11 is equipped as a water supply truck, it carries two 500 gpm portable pumps along with numerous sections of hard suction and a sump pump, allowing the engine to remove large and small amounts of water. 28-11 operated at three residences, removing approximately 4-5 feet of water from one and another foot and a half from another. Flooding levels also caused ice to freeze over area railroad tracks, causing railcars to become frozen in place, requiring extra work on behalf of the rail company to free the cars. Recent snow melt off and ice jams caused French Creek to overflow in the Meadville area, flooding low-lying roads and homes as well as cutting off numerous routes in and out of the City of Meadville.

West Mead #1 returned to service at 5:02 PM.
