At 1:45 PM West Mead #1 was dispatched with other area departments to assist Meadville Central with a structure fire on Pine Street. 28-12 and 28-11 responded to the working fire near East Alley, a two-story wood frame house remodeled into multi-tenant housing. Department 28 personnel assisted with incident safety, overhaul, and equipment cleanup. A third alarm brought East Mead and Vernon Township to the fire. The house suffered significant damage to the attic, according to Meadville Central’s Chief Hedrick. All 28 units returned to service by 5:00 PM.

No injuries were reported, but three families including eight adults and a child lost their homes because the building was no longer inhabitable, according to local news reports.

Other departments on scene included Meadville Central, Meadville Ambulance, West Mead #2, Vernon Central, Saegertown, Vernon Township, and East Mead.
