West Mead #1 responded to a public service detail on Saturday, July 26, 2014 around 11:24 am. 28-C2 and 28-L1 responded with 28-13 to Franklin Pike to assist with a report of a cat stuck in a tree. The cat, which was stuck 40 feet up a tree with heavy vegetation surrounding it, had physical disabilities preventing him from coming down on his own, and had been in the tree for several days. 28 members set up the 35-foot ladder from 28-13 and improvised with a shovel and bunker coat to safely retrieve the cat and reunite him with his family. 28 was back in service around 12:30 pm.
