At 11:05 AM West Mead #1 was dispatched as part of a second alarm to assist Meadville Central with a structure fire on Park Avenue, just north of W John Street. Engine 28-12 responded to the incident involving a two-and-a-half story wood-frame residential structure with a furnace reportedly on fire in the basement. On arrival 28’s crew was assigned to ladder the building while West Mead #2 sent a crew inside the building to search for victims and check for fire extension. After Meadville Central Chief Evan Hasko declared the situation under control, West Mead #1 assisted with equipment cleanup and returned to service by 12:14 PM.

Other departments on scene included Vernon Central, Saegertown, Meadville Ambulance, and Meadville Police.

According to The Meadville Tribune, no residents or firefighters were injured in the fire. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
