On an evening with many storm-related incidents in the area, West Mead #1 was dispatched for low-hanging wires on Franklin Pike and a fallen tree on a Liberty Street residence. On the Franklin Pike incident, Chief Brad Johnston found that the low-hanging wires were on private property and posed no hazard to the roadway. Engine 28-12 and Squad 28-14 responded to the Liberty Street call to find a large pine tree on the porch of a 1.5-story wood-framed residence. The occupant was uninjured and able to self-extricate. After establishing that the tree had stabilized and further damage to the house was unlikely, West Mead #1 apparatus returned to stations.
All 28 units returned to service by 10:30 PM.
