At 11:26 PM on Saturday West Mead #1 was dispatched to assist Pennsylvania State Police with a search for a missing person in the township. Engine 28-13 and Squad 28-14 responded with several search teams, staging at the sharp corner on South Morgan Street. Teams conducted searches along the wooded area between Ravine and South Morgan Streets, then between Render Avenue and Pine Street, with Meadville Central assisting along the City of Meadville boundary. Northwest Pennsylvania K9 Search and Rescue was requested and responded with five dogs, handlers, and support personnel. The canine teams deployed two tracking dogs and a scent dog in turn to cover the search grid. With the area thoroughly searched, West Mead #1 turned the situation over State Police to continue their investigation. Police found the missing person safe later on Sunday morning.

Other agencies providing assistance included Meadville Ambulance, Cambridge Springs Police, and West Mead Police. West Mead #2 placed an engine on standby at Meadville Central during the search.

West Mead #1 thanks the partner agencies that assisted with the search, along with McDonald’s on Park Avenue for donating coffee.

Several minutes after returning to service at 4:10 AM, West Mead #1 and Meadville Ambulance were dispatched for a medical emergency, and Engine 28-13 immediately responded to that call.

West Mead #1 returned to service from both calls by 4:42 AM.
