At 4:41 AM West Mead #1 was dispatched for a vehicle fire near the intersection of Liberty St and Lamont Drive. Engines 28-13 and 28-12 responded to the vehicle on fire in the parking lot near the old incinerator. The 28-13 crew stretched the bumper line and knocked down the fire in the car’s passenger compartment. A dry chemical extinguisher was applied to magnesium that flared up with the application of water. State Police troopers took over the scene to complete their investigation. West Mead #1 operated on scene for approximately 45 minutes and returned to service.

No driver or passengers were found, and no injuries were reported.

Update: According to ForeverNorthwestPA.com, the vehicle was stolen, and State Police asked the public to contact them at (814) 332-6911 with any information that could be helpful to an ongoing investigation.
