On October 7 West Mead #1 and #2 volunteer fire departments presented fire safety programs at Neason Hill Elementary School. Firefighters used slide shows, video, and hands-on demonstrations to emphasize the importance of fire safety in the home. Students were reminded to get outside and stay outside if there is a fire. Firefighters also demonstrated their personal protective equipment (PPE) that allows them to work safely in a hostile environment. Some classes toured the fire engines on display outside the building. In the afternoon the school conducted a fire drill, and the two West Mead fire departments practiced their pre-plan for a fire incident at the school, including searching for missing students.

West Mead #1 thanks West Mead #2 for their assistance and the Neason Hill Elementary staff for cooperating with the fire safety training.
