West Mead #1 members participated in a review of fundamental skills to support fire ground operations. Members began the evening working with ladders, practicing ladder carries, high/low raises, along with flat and beam raises. Crews worked in teams and solo to complete several evolutions. Ladder placement was discussed and practiced along with an emphasis on maintaining existing flow paths. Following the ladder work, crews took Engines 28-12 and 13 to work with hydrants and drafting. Members again reviewed hydrant basics with newer firefighters and discussed different options for hooking up to hydrants and laying supply line.
