For training this week West Mead #1 crews returned to Townline Road to practice setting up a draft. The township road crew had recently completed improvements to a water source between Highway 27 and Hunter Road. Two 10′ sections of 6″ hard suction and a floating strainer from Engine 28-11 were used to reach the water. The exercise also gave newer pump operators experience on establishing a draft, switching to tank water as needed, and re-establishing a draft.
