At 8:37 PM West Mead #1 was dispatched to assist Cochranton with a reported garage fire on S Allen Road. Initially one engine was requested to stand by at Department 4, but Chief 4 Jason Bresee soon asked for an engine to report to the scene and the second engine to assist with water supply. Engines 28-13 and 28-12 responded with Squad 28-14 bringing additional manpower. Engine 28-13 set up at the intersection of Allen Road and Deckards to take water from tankers and pumped through 500 feet of 4″ supply hose to Cochranton’s Engine 4-22. Squad 28-14 was deployed to the back of the structure to provide scene lighting with its light tower and tripod lights. Department 28 crews also assisted with fire suppression, overhaul, water supply, and cleanup after the incident.
Other departments on scene included Blooming Valley, Cooperstown, East Mead, Randolph, Utica, and Vernon Central.
Meadville Central was put on standby in their station for the district while 28’s engines were committed to assisting Cochranton.
All 28 units returned to service by 1:27 AM on January 6.
