At 1:32 PM West Mead #1 was dispatched for a brush fire on Cochranton Road (US 322) with exposure of a residence. Engines 28-12 and 28-13 responded to the scene, where the wind spread fire from a burn pile to a yard and a nearby tree. The first engine crew pulled an 1 3/4″ handline from 28-13 and quickly extinguished the fire. Mop-up operations were completed within 20 minutes and the department returned to service by 2:15 PM.
