At 10:53 AM West Mead 1 was dispatched for a natural gas leak on Chad Lane. Engine 28-13 responded to the scene, where a construction crew operating with an excavator had sheared off into a service line that was not marked by the PA One Call service.
At 4:04 PM West Mead #1 was dispatched for an engine crew to respond to a reported violation of West Mead Township's burning ordinance on Alden Street. Engine 28-12 responded to the scene and found an unattended smoldering fire burning household trash and other items outside a proper container.
At 8:01 AM West Mead #1 was dispatched for traffic control on Pettis Road for multiple vehicles stuck on the hill. Slippery conditions from an overnight snowfall caused multiple vehicles to become stuck on the State-maintained road.
On January 13 starting at 1:51 PM, West Mead #1 provided assistance to Vernon Township Dept. 27 to help a few of the many residents in areas affected by the flood waters of French Creek. Engine 28-11 responded with 5 personnel to Shippen Street and began investigating three homes with flooded basements.
At 4:48 PM on January 10 West Mead #1 was dispatched with other mutual aid departments to assist Cochranton with a large pile of mulch on fire along Franklin Pike. Engines 28-12 and 28-13 responded to the incident as requested, one engine to the scene and one to stand by at Cochranton's station.
After an eventful week, West Mead #1 provided an engine standby crew during fireworks that concluded the MARC's ReMARCable Family Festival.
At 12:46 PM West Mead #1 was dispatched to assist Vernon Township and Vernon Central with a small fire in the Ainsworth Pet Nutrition plant.

At 7:06 PM West Mead #1 was dispatched for a miscellaneous fire on Franklin Pike, a small shed on fire with an exposure of another shed.
After training hard for the past several months, the firefighters of West Mead #1 decided to take a night and help one of our members replace his garage roof.
