At 6:56 AM West Mead #1 was dispatched with other area departments to assist Cochranton Volunteer Fire Department with a working commercial structure fire along US 322. Engines 28-12, 28-13, and 28-11 responded to Greer’s Beer Distribution, where firefighters from Cochranton’s engines 4-21 and 4-23 had begun an interior attack with two 1 3/4″ handlines. The fire apparently began in the garage area of the building and spread into the attic over the storage cooler. West Mead #1 assisted with hand lines, water supply and overhaul.
All 28 units returned to service by 9:00 AM.
Other departments called to assist included Vernon Central, West Mead #2, Utica, East Mead, Randolph, and Meadville Ambulance.
The Meadville Tribune’s report on the fire is available here.
