On July 1, 2017, West Mead #1 VFC was dispatched at 12:42 am with Meadville Ambulance to Franklin Pike for a reported motor vehicle accident. Engine 28-13 responded and was cautioned by Crawford County 911 about nearby flooding on Franklin Pike. Chiefs 28 and 33 arrived on scene, confirming one vehicle on its roof. Chief 33 reported the patient had self-extricated and was waiting at a nearby residence. Meadville Ambulance handled patient care while the crew from 28-13 evaluated the vehicle and roadway. 28 crews shut down Franklin Pike due to the extensive flooding. Once the vehicle was removed from the scene by Leonard’s Towing, traffic control was turned over to PSP to await PennDOT’s arrival for road barriers.

28 was back in service at 2:13 am.
