West Mead #1 participated in a rural water supply drill on Saturday, July 9, with multiple departments from Crawford and Mercer Counties. Coordinated by Vernon Central Hose Company, crews utilized multiple tenders (tankers) to supply a simulated fire attack requiring 750 gallons per minute over a period of several hours. Crews exceeded this delivery goal and provided over 850 gallons per minute after fine-tuning operations. This type of operation would be critical when confronted with a large fire in an area without fire hydrants or nearby water supplies.
