At 1:39 PM West Mead #1 was dispatched for a tree down on wires with power outages on Lamont Drive. Engine 28-12 responded to the scene, where a large cherry tree had fallen across the road, snapping two power lines on the far side and coming to rest on the phone and cable lines on the near side. Dept 28 set up traffic control to shut down Lamont Drive between Seminole and Liberty St. After Penelec ensured the tree was not energized by electric lines, the West Mead Township Road Department used a bucket truck and front-end loader to trim the upper branches and remove the trunk of the tree from the wires. Penelec remained on scene to restore power in the area.
All 28 units returned to service by 3:15 PM.
