West Mead #1 and several other departments were invited by Cochranton Volunteer Fire Department to train with live fire at the Crawford-Venango County Fire School burn building near Cambridge Springs. About 12 members and officers from Department 28 participated in the training. Crews practiced fire suppression on the ground floor and primary search and rescue on the second floor.
Other departments invited by Cochranton were East Mead, Utica, and Randolph. Several guests also attended, including former West Mead #1 fire chief Herm Battles, who was instrumental in the effort to establish the regional fire school in 1961.
Thanks to Cochranton for sponsoring the joint training and providing an evening meal!
