On March 29 West Mead #1 was dispatched with Conneaut Lake Ambulance and Pennsylvania State Police for a vehicle accident with injury and entrapment on Cochranton Road (US 322). 28-13 and 28-12 responded to the scene with 12 members.

The vehicle—a compact sports car—had left the roadway, flipped over, struck trees, and finally came to rest on its side, partially submerged in 8-10 inches of water. Using hand tools and hydraulic spreaders, crews safely extricated the vehicle’s occupant. A crew from Leonard’s Towing then retrieved the vehicle.

While 28 personnel were arriving on scene, two other vehicles were involved in a minor accident nearby.

29-4 from West Mead #2 Volunteer Fire Department provided traffic control and shut down Cochranton Road while crews from Dept 28 worked to clear the scene.

All 28 units returned to service by midnight.
