West Mead #1 conducted weekly training focusing on engine company and truck company evolutions. 13 members of the department participated in the drill and each of the members rotated through two stations. Station 1 consisted of members advancing an attack line up a 14′ ladder and into a 2nd floor window. Once inside members advanced and searched several rooms prior to locating a simulated room and contents fire. Once the members had extinguished the simulated fire, they were responsible for overhauling the room. Station 2 consisted of vertical ventilation. During this exercise members gathered the equipment needed to cut a hole in the roof. This activity occurs at building fires to prevent the spread of fire and to remove heat and smoke from the building.
West Mead #1 would like to thank Meadville Central Fire Department for the use of this training building along with the CATA bus garage.
