After beginning the day with a medical response at 00:10, West Mead #1 responded at 17:05 on mutual aid to Hunter Hill Road, East Mead Township for a reported working garage fire. 28-12 responded with 6 members within four minutes of dispatch. 28-11 and 28-13 also responded within minutes from the Liberty St. station. While responding 9-C3/28-C3 confirmed a working fire and instructed 28-12 to pull handlines, 28-12 deployed a foam line to the second floor of the structure. 28-12’s 2nd foam line was stretched by firefighters from East Mead and West Mead #1, this line went to the first floor. The two crews had the fire knocked down with less than 800 gallons of water. West Mead #2 arrived and began venting the structure for the interior crews. Meadville Ambulance responded to the scene to provide rehab and assessment of our firefighters during the incident. West Mead #1 responded to an additional medical call at 20:58 and reported in-service from the fire and medical response at 21:24. West Mead #1 wishes to thank Meadville Central fire department for providing coverage to our area while our members were operating on Hunter Hill.
