West Mead #1 fire engines carry pre-connected hose lines. The department utilizes 1 3/4″ for several of the pre-connected attack lines along with 2 1/2″ hose lines. The hose is pre-connected to the engine to save time once we arrive on scene. With well trained members it is possible to have the hose line stretched and charged with water within 60-75 seconds of the engine arriving on scene. Tonight’s drill focused on developing skills for newer members along with maintaining skills for experienced members. For the evening the members together pulled and repacked hose lines between 30-35 times.
