At 10:48 AM West Mead #1 was dispatched with Meadville Ambulance for a two-vehicle accident with injury and entrapment on Cochranton Road. En route to the scene, Chief 28 asked Meadville Central to assist. 28-12 and 28-13 responded to the incident under icy conditions. Despite significant damage to both vehicles, all occupants had self-extricated with minor injuries by the time rescue personnel arrived on scene. Department 28 personnel assisted with loading two injured passengers into ambulances. US 322 was shut down for about an hour and then limited to single-lane traffic until both vehicles were removed by wreckers.

All 28 units returned to service by 12:15 PM.
